About Rich.
My name is Richard and I am "Photo by Rich"
I have always had an interest in photography. When I was young, I worked all summer in
a meat department to earn enough money for my first 35mm camera. It was not the best
camera in the world, I bought it used, but it was mine. I didn't shoot many photos with the
camera before it stopped working.
While I was attending USC in LA, I bought my first new 35mm camera, a Pentax. I started
shooting a lot of photos then. In 1973 and 1974, I won ribbons at the Monterey County Fair
for my photography (mostly flowers and landscapes). My success at the fair soon led to
a job with a couple of professional studios in Salinas, CA. I shot wedding pictures for over
seven years. Anyone remember Dolly and Bob's Studio? and/or Les Ng Photography? I
did a lot of work for those two studios. During that time, I purchased a professional
camera, a rolleiflex. I did many family portraits and senior photos. My focus (no pun
intended) changed when I started a management career with Safeway and ultimately
with Waste Management. During this time, I only did a small amount of professional
photography with Ron's Photography and Video. In 2010, I retired from my former
careers and concentrated on Photography and wedding officiating. Over the last 5 years,
I have taken photos at the Consumer Electronic Show and AE Expo in Las Vegas, flower
photography at local flower shows including Pacific Plug and Liner (Watsonville, CA) and
Goldsmith's (Gilroy, CA), many senior class portraits and family portraits, and numerous
elopement weddings. I also have experience in boudoir, "expecting," implied,
model,"Betty," and more.
EQUIPMENT: Canon 5Dii, Nikon D300s, Nikon D300. Multiple lenses and lighting
equipment.
So if you would like to chat about photography or pass on any ideas that might be of
interest, let me know. I am a low key, low pressure photographer looking for fun things
to photograph.
