2018 Captured Moments
Week 52 - December 23, 2018 to December 31, 2018
Not long ago, my youngest daughter was in a fight for her life with severe pneumonia.
This year, my oldest daughter is in the fight for her life with breast cancer.
My youngest daughter won her battle and is doing fine.  My oldest daughter Jennifer is taking on the battle with
much support and love.  So far, it looks like she is winning too.
For parents, it's always a difficult experience to she your children fighting for life. But in the middle of these
battles, you realize just how much you love your children.
I know in my heart, Jennifer will beat this monster.
Week 1  - January 1, 2018 to January 6, 2018
Week 2:  Annual trip to Las Vegas for the Consumer Electronics Show (CES).  I was very fortunate to meet Captain Scott Kelly.  He spent one year in Space!  One of the things I
miss while in Las Vegas was our little Roxy.  Especially since she is growing more fond of Grandpa.  While in Las Vegas, Robert and I visited the Carrol Shelby Museum.
Amazing.  Then on with the show.  Three and a half days of convention.    Not a great as years past, but still fun to see new things.   The convention is so big, one cannot see it all.
But one never knows what is just around the corner.
Week 2  - January 7, 2018 to January 13, 2018
Week 3:  Food, Entertainment, Flying Home.  At the end of CES week, it's time for food, entertainment, heading home.   Robert and I went to the Blue Martini to see Ryan Whyte
Maloney, a finalist on The Voice TV program.  Not only was his music very good, he is a super nice guy.  His took time during his break to greet people and we were able to get a
photograph with him.  Catch him if you can.   Robert and I then had dinner near the Blue Martini at the Tommy Bahama Restaurant.  The food was amazing, The blue crab soup was
awesome.  But the highlight was the Pineapple Creme Brulee.  The next morning, Robert and I had a senior breakfast at a Denny's.  On the wall was an old photo of Las Vegas.  Robert
and I had fun guessing the year the photograph was taken.  We had lunch at our favorite Indian restaurant, The Mint.  The last food and entertainment was the combo deal of meal and
the show "Las Vegas."  The food was okay and the show was fun.  As things worked out on this trip, I traveled home via Allegiant Air.  The flight was very smooth.  A couple of things I
was able to identify in the air was the sun farm north of Las Vegas, Salinas Valley State Prison, Las Laureles Grade.  Finally this week.  Nothing like a meal at home with my grand
daughter Roxy.  Needless to say, she is a wonderful source of entertainment too.
Week 3  - January 14, 2018 to January 20, 2018
Week 4:  Time keeps on moving on.  Steve, my friend of 45 years retired this month.  We met at Safeway, our old digs,
for coffee.  We saw a previous coworker Shannon.  Then I remember, we had taken a selfie during for my first book in
2010.  So we recreated the shot.  Have we changed much?  Time moves on.  All four of our grandchildren had new
moments.  Ronan, the oldest, played his first basketball game.  Isobel, had her first father-daughter dance with her dad,
Steve.  Roxy started a new ritual, watching Daniel Tiger with grandpa every time she comes over.  Noah, our youngest
grandchild graduated to "high chair."  Time is going so fast.  There are things that are long standing.  Jeanne and I
missed our annual visit to change flowers and pay respect to her grandparents (on father's side) prior to Christmas, so
we made the trip this week.  New to us was having lunch at the Ono Hawaiian BBQ.  Ono good.  Jennifer update:
Recent scans show a "drastically" reduced mass of cancer.  So there are reasons to smile.
Week 6.  Jeanne and I went to San Jose to the Bass Pro Shop to purchase a smoker and have lunch.  What an amazing
store.  No wonder my son in law, Steve, loves Bass Pro Shops.   Superbowl Sunday.  I mostly spent the day doing bbq
ribs.  I decided to watch the last quarter of the Superbowl (I have been boycotting NFL games due to the flag issue).  I
was very happy to see Nelson Agholor.  Got a text msg on Wednesday, Jen needed a blood transfusion.  So Uber dad on
duty.  It was a long day, but in the end, it was very much worth the trip and the day.  The next morning Jen was feelings
tons better.   Thursday morning sunshine watching Daniel Tiger with Roxy.  It's a routine now and I love it.  Then uber
dad off to pick up Jen.  A milestone today.  She is half way through the Chemo!  And everything is looking good so far.
That puts smiles on faces.  At the end of the day, I dropped off Jen and stayed to visit my other sunshines, Ronan and
Isobel.  Thursday was a VERY GOOD DAY to be sure.
2010
2018
Week 4  - January 21, 2018 to January 27, 2018
Week 5:  Jeanne and I started the week in Pacific Grove to do two wedddings at Lover's point.  We enjoyed clam chowder at our fav chowder house.
Then on Wednesday morning, I woke up early to see the once in a lifetime event.  The Super Blue Blood Moon.  I wasn't sure I would have a view, but
when I saw the view, I grabbed my Nikon and took some photos.  An amazing natural event.  I saw it live.  I took a silhouette of me taking photographs
(with my cell phone).  Then with some photo shop work, the photos above are the results.  I used a NASA photo as well to give a comparison.Though the
Super Blue Blood Moon took center stage to most, center stage to me is my daughter Jen.  Her husband Steve and I have been taking turns taking Jen
to chemo therapy.  Thumbs up right before the chemo.  To hear her doctor say she is doing great and better is what a father wants to hear.  I am proud
Jennifer is fighting this monster and winning.  It's a fight for her life and it's hers alone.  Though family and friends can support her, she is the ultimate
fighter.  She is winning, she is surviving.  She is doing fine.  One thing that is true, I am her father and I will always be her father and I will always be
proud of her.  Fight on Jen, we love you.
Week 5  - January 28, 2018 to February 3, 2018
Week 6  - February 4, 2018 to February 10, 2018
Week 7:  Valentines Day week.  We decided to head north to Sacramento to see our newest valentine, Noah, our newest grandchild.  On the way, I took Jeanne to a cute place for lunch.  Naturally, it's name had to be
"Sweety Pies."  A quaint place in Placerville.  Then on to Sacramento.  For dinner, we all went to a Japanese restaurant near where David, Paula, and Noah live.  It was a fantastic place to eat.  Fun to watch the food
prepared and the food was great.  The next night Jeanne and I watched Noah while Dave and Paula had a Valentine's Dinner.  They had fun, WE had fun.  Noah is such a super little guy.  Lot's of smiles. As the tee shirt
Jeanne gave me says,  "I have been called a lot of names in my lifetime, but Grandpa is my favorite."
Week 7  - February 11, 2018 to February 17, 2018
Week 9:  Happy Birthday Rich, part 2.  On Thursday last week, on my actual birthday, Jeanne and I joined cousins Richard and Angie at iL Fornaio for their first wine maker's dinner of
the year.  Nice wines, and nice dinner.  iL Fornaio manager Matt and his wife Leslie joined me for a photo op.  We have known them for years.  Saturday night and Sunday morning
was the family celebration.  I am blessed to have all my children, their spouses, and grandchildren together with us.  They are special to make such an effort.  They know it's special to
me.  Dave BBQ's his first brisket.  It was amazing.  Look at that smoke ring!  Photos include Jeanne and I.  Our children Dave, Jen, and Richelle.  Their children.  Ronan, Isobel, Roxy,
and Noah (from oldest to youngest).   Daughter in law and son's in law.  Steve, Wes, and Paula (in order of weddings).  Oh, the oldest member present was a bottle of Louis XIII
Cognac.  Over 80 years old and smooth.  One shot to celebrate.
Week 8:  Happy Birthday Rich.  Birthday greetings started early this morning.  My sister text me right after 6 AM!  Then Jeanne came into the den and gave
me a birthday kiss.  After that emails, and Facebook.  I rarely go on Facebook, but I had to respond to all the Birthday wishes from friends and family.  Then
videos and photos from Paula and Noah.  Follow that with a birthday video from Ronan and Isobel.  They sang to me from the car via cell phone.  Then Roxy
visited and gave me presents and our routine of watching Daniel Tiger.  So much more to come today.  Going to iL Fornaio for a wine maker dinner.  I am
sure some photos will be taken.  My son David will try to be here with Noah on Friday night.  He is bringing a monster brisket.  Then family will all be here
Saturday.  Looking forward to the best presents of all.  Family!   I am blessed so it is a Happy Birthday for me.
Week 8  - February 18, 2018 to February 24, 2018
Week 9  - February 25, 2018 to March 3, 2018
Week 10: A monumental week.  First, I preformed my 900th wedding!  And according to guests, the ceremony
was great.  I was happy it went well.  900 down, 100 more to 1000 (my goal for the year).  Big moment for
Isobel.  She had her ears pierced.  Brave little one.  So what id Roxy and Noah thing?  Pictures of angels.
Found out my Mustang had a deader than dead battery.  New battery, new life.  It's back.  One detail job away
from being awesome again.  Thank you Jennifer and Paula for photo contributions this week.
Week 11: St. Patrick's Day Rainbows and Leprechauns. All my little special leprechauns
had a good week.  Ronan gets an award at school.  Isobel celebrates her birthday.  Roxy
and Noah enjoying grandparents.  My rainbow is thinking what I would love to do this year.
Las Vegas (done), Vancouver Canada trip (booked), Slap Yo Daddy BBQ class with David
(booked), and, travel to Maui for a week of sun and fun (just booked).  Life is full of
rainbows, find them and enjoy.    Happy St. Patrick's Day !
Week 10  - March 4, 2018 to March 10, 2018
My Little Leprechauns
Week 11  - March 11, 2018 to March 17, 2018
Week 13: Spring bread Ronan and Isobel style.  A family trip to Sacramento to see Uncle David and Aunt Paula and cousin Noah.  A trip to the zoo and Easter fun.  Back near home,
some time at Nonna and Grandpa's house.  A car wash visit, back yard lunch with some face fun.  And fun with cousin Roxy.  Not a bad Spring break to be sure.
Week 12  - March 18, 2018 to March 24, 2018
Week 12: Saturday Jeanne and I went to the Arts and Crafts Fair in San Juan Bautista.  Very colorful this year.
Just like life, lots of colorful arts and crafts.  Like what do grandchildren do on a rainyu day? Make colorful and
artful cookies.  Or sharing a bag of Cheetos with grandpa.  And Noah is growing so fast, he will soon be making
colorful and artful cookies.
I bought a stone sign at the arts and crafts fair, it says it all.
Week 21:  Affective immediately, I have suspend my facebook accounts.  I will not be checking
on them at all.  Currently, I have preformed 931 weddings.  When I reach 1000 weddings, I plan
to cancel all facebook accounts permanently.  Meanwhile, I can only be reached by personal
emails or calls.  In addition, I am changing my photobyrich postings to once a month.
In January 2019, I will be closing Bayview Officiants website.
Time to reflect more, post less, and move on.  Next photo posting is planned for June 10th.  See
you then, Salute.
Week 14  - April 1, 2018 to April 7, 2018
Week 14: Easter 2018.  Most of the family was at our home to celebrate, but family work obligations means celebrating in two places.  But love
transcends miles.  And so do Easter Eggs.  On Sunday, Jeanne and I headed over to my favorite winery to do a club pick up for Jennifer, David, and I.
Overall, a very pleasant Easter Holiday.   Photograph above is Yuriko, Richelle, Roxy, Wes, Iris, Jen, Ronan, Steve, Isobel, Angie, Jeanne, Rich and
Richard.
Week 15  - April 8, 2018 to April 14, 2018
Week 15:  My two grand daughters.  Both so awesome in their own ways.  Isobel recently celebrated her birthday and one of her birthday wishes was to build a ballerina bear.  Done.  Roxy will be
celebrating her birthday tomorrow.  She looks like she is ready to celebrate too.  But for now, her visits to us start with her special time with grandpa watching Daniel Tiger.  Love my little girls!
Week 16:  Roxy turns TWO !  And that means Ice Cream Cake !   Cousins Angie and Richard join Roxy and Richelle for a quick photo.  Other photos include Dad Wes, and Grandpa.  Jeanne and Richelle took Roxy to Chucky Cheese for some next day fun.
Week 16  - April 15, 2018 to April 21, 2018
Week 17  - April 22, 2018 to April 28, 2018
Week 17:  Noah Baptised!   A major event for Noah, he was officially baptised into the Catholic Church. He was a perfect angle during the ceremony.  Congrats to Noah, his parents and family.  Hey, that's
us!  Big Smiles!
Week 18  - April 29, 2018 to May 5, 2018
Week 18:  Future will be Past.   I met with the wedding coordinator and a bride for a wedding in October.  The meeting was at the Happy Landing Inn in Carmel by the
Sea.  I was excited to see this unique venue.  They booked a wedding with me.  Then I found out, the wedding I will be doing will be the last at this venue.  The owners
are planning on making it their home again.  Ronan, Isobel, and Jennifer had a very special day at San Carlos School.  Heartwarming to see the school recognize
Jennifer and our grandchildren Ronan and Isobel
Week 19  - May 6, 2018 to May 12, 2018
Week 19:  The definition of "Blessed."   Whenever someone asked how I am, I say "I am blessed."  Watching my grandchildren grow.  Whether learning to BBQ, make a
cake, snoozing on grandpa's lap, killing the world with an wonderful smile, a daughter beating cancer, or just enjoying a glass of my favorite wine.  Yes, folks,
I AM BLESSED.
Week 13  - March 25, 2018 to March 31, 2018
Week 20:  Happy Mother's Day to all the mom's in our lives.  Three moms (daughter
Jennifer, wife Jeanne, and daughter Richelle)  Mother's day brunch, included
son-in-law Steve and his parents, Howard and Magaret.  Paula (my son David's wife and
a mom) took this photo of my son David and grandson Noah going to a mother's day
meal.  The wine tile says it all, "Triumphant" day.
Week 20  - May 13, 2018 to May 19, 2018
Week 26.  Another super busy week.  Because it was so busy, Jeanne and I opted out of going to IL Fornaio for the wine maker dinner, but I did try to prepare similar courses
from their menu including Morgan wine, scallops, and grilled lamb chops.  My first time grilling bacon wrapped scallpops, and they turned out awesome.  Jeanne and Jen
took Ronan and Isobel to a jump house in Gilroy.  Noah had his first haircut.  Thank you Jen and Paula for photos.
Week 21  - May 20, 2018 to May 26, 2018
Week 23  - June 3, 2018 to June 10, 2018
Week 22/23:  Hell Week!  It seemed like everything went wrong.  Lost a wedding check, roof inspection failed, windows update crashed
my computer, my website crashed, and so many more things, not to mention.  At least Jeanne and I were able to make it to our flight to
Vancouver on time (6:00 AM boarding!).  Fortunately, everything went smooth in Vancouver and we had a very nice time.  Upon our
return, we were back to a super busy day-to-day schedule trying to get back together from Hell Week.  A peak forward.  Sunday morning
June 10, I was able to get my website back on line.  I hope our summer is a nice one.  Thank you for checking back.  I am back.  I will try
to catch up by the end of this week (June 16).
Week 22  - May 27, 2018 to June 2, 2018
Week 24  - June 11, 2018 to June 16, 2018
Week 24.  Believe it or not, the photograph above is a "selfie!"
Can you find me?  Ronan spotted me, can you?  So where are we
this week?  Noah, Paula and son David are enjoying pool time as
summer starts.  Honor, John, Jeanne, and I get together for a nice
celebration dinner.  Jennifer's surgery went well, she is healing
now.  Ronan and Isobel are in Summer Camp.  Shelly, Wes, and
Roxy are focused on work. Special thanks to Jen's husband Steve
for keeping us all informed on Jen's sugery.   The monster has
been removed, time to get better.
Week 23:  Hell Week! Cousin Robert and I attended a USC Northern Cal Booster Club Huddle in
Burlingame.  There we met football coach Helton, USC championship coach John Robinson, and head
basketball coach Andy Endfield.  Friday, Jeanne and I attended a dance program in Carmel.  On stage
was our grand daughter Isobel.  She has improved so much and one can see she loves dancing.
Week 25. Father's Day.  Jeanne and I did a brunch sail on the Chardonnay II.  A very smooth and relaxing
sail.  During the sail, we observed a Sun Fish, Jeanne's favorite fish.  It was huge!  I traveled all the way to
Fairfield to do a wedding for a couple from Japan.  The highlight was a special musical performance after the
wedding for me along.  Both musicians were super nice.  Thank you ladies.  That was special.
Week 25  - June 17, 2018 to June 23, 2018
Week 30. July 27, 2018  Happy 10th birthday to my oldest grandson Ronan.  A big SF Giants fan.  He was treated to a Giants game with his mom and friends.  His smiles says it all.  Happy Birthday Ronan !  Started off
the week at our new neighbor's house for a get together afternoon BBQ.  Welcome to the neighborhood Oscar and Alicia.  I am seated next to our log term neighbor David as we enjoy a great afternoon meal.  This
week, I received an official document stating I am the owner of an official Shelby Mustang Cobra.  As my son David and his friend say, "It's Bad Ass."  On the 28th, I did a wedding at Carmel Highlands.  A beautiful
venue.  On reason why I still love doing weddings.  Congrats to Jack and Chelsea, (my 971st wedding preformed!).
Week 26  - June 24, 2018 to June 30, 2018
Week 27  - July 1, 2018 to July 7, 2018
Week 27.  I cannot believe half of 2018 is gone.  Days are going by way too fast.  My second visit to the dentist in two weeks.  This time for a total
teeth and gum check.  Only one small item needs to be replaced and all was well.  Jeanne and I visited Dave in Sac.  We started with a little wine
tasting at two tasting rooms.  I am a member at the first one, Jeremy's, and Dave is a member at the second one, Oak Ridge.  It's so good, I am a
club member now.  Sunday morning breakfast at Mel's in Sac.  I saw a photo on the wall and casually said that reminds me of the one we had in
Salinas.  Look closer, the photo was taken in Salinas!  Amazing.  The 4th of July was super quiet for us this year.  Jen and family visited Dave,
Paula and Noah in Sac.  Richelle had to work.  Wes and Roxy entertained Wes's mom and niece.   Cousins Richard and Angie were alone at Lake
Tahoe, but sent us a "salute."  They were enjoying the sites and sounds of wild life.  Meanwhile, I had my own wild life as I bbq'd hot dogs, a
mechanical owl photo bombed me.  But thanks to Dave's introduction to Oak Ridge, I spent the 4th with 4 girls.  My wife and an Oak Ridge bottle of
red called "Three Girls."   The fireworks in Salinas were also amazing.  The only difference between her and Tahoe was our show was over 90
minutes long and 99 percent of the fireworks were illegal.  I hope everyone's 4th was fun and safe.  What will next week bring?
Week 28 - July 8, 2018 to July 14, 2018
Week 28.  Looking back on the 4th of July week and moving forward.  There is a song that says, "to everything turn turn turn, there is a season."   This 4th is a
turning of the seasons. Leave the past, look forward to today.  One tang leaves, another enters.  Ronan approaches a new milestone birthday from single digit
to double digits.  Family celebrates the 4th in a variety of locations.  Noah smiles with more new teeth.  Roxy enjoys a new day with GP.  And Jen compares new
hair with dad.  I once read the only that does not change is "change" itself.  Everything changes, nothing stays the same.  Soooooo, enjoy each day for
tomorrow things will change.
Week 29 - July 15, 2018 to July 21, 2018
Week 29. No, time keeps on going faster and faster.  Started off the week at Erik's retirement and birthday party.  Such an awesome family.  Sunday, we joined cousins Richard and Angie at the Dominico Winery to do a brunch and concert.
"One Hit Wonder" Robbie Dupree.  After, we had a very nice visit at the Raggio's.  Monday I renewed my SVSP id for another year.  Over 200 weddings there so far.  Wednesday, we did an early birthday celebration for Ronan.  We went to the
Santa Cruz Boardwalk. and we had a super wonderful day.  I made them sit still for a little while to do a cartoon portrait.  Glad I did.  Something they will remember.
Week 30 - July 22, 2018 to July 28, 2018
Week 34.  Happy 1st birthday Noah!  Family and friends met at the Oakland Zoo park area to celebrate Noah's 1st birthday.  Happy little guy enjoys his birthday cake and
presents.  Happy 1st Birthday to my youngest grandson!  Thank you photo contributors.
Week 31 - July 29, 2018 to August 4, 2018
Week 31. Books and Boxes.  Seems like sometimes the simple things are the most entertaining.  Three of our four grandchildren visited this week.  Isobel found a box of styrofoam stuffing fun to
sit in and then entertain herself with a book.  She then jumped on my lap for a better explanation of the photographs.  (Last year's family book).  Ronan enjoyed his box.  X Box, that is.  Roxy spent
some quality time watching Daniel on Grandpa's lap as well.  Nice visit.  Just missed Noah this week.  There is always next time.
Week 32 - August 5, 2018 to August 11, 2018
Week 32. Some special moments this week.  Above, Jen, Jeanne, and I join friends at the Boekenoogen Winery member BBQ Santa Lucia location.
Steve prepared ribs in a pit barrel bbq.  Have to admit, they were very good.  Thank you Steve.  Roxy supervises my quick grill of stuffed peppers.  More photos at the Boekenoogen BBQ.  After a wedding in Carmel, Jeanne
and I ate a new place in Seaside, the Meatery.  I wanted a port belly sandwich.  YUM.  On the way home from dinner, Dave and Paula sent photos of Noah enjoying a birthday cake.  He turns one year old this coming week,
how fun to be young.  Our grandson Noah has a very captivating and lovable smile.  Such a happy little man.
Week 33 - August 12, 2018 to August 18, 2018
Week 33.Heading to the Oakland Zoo today to celebrate Noah's 1st birthday!  He is growing so fast.  We all love little Noah.  Thank you Paula for the
photograph.  Jeanne and I started out the week at the Monterey County Bacon Fest.  Bacon Ice Cream?  Bacon apple fritters?  The music was awesome.
We met (Eric) Stephen Bock, singer, writer, and almond grower!  The afternoon music was a cover band Stevie Nicks Allusion.  They were amazing.
Some of the cover songs sounded better than Stevie, believe it or not.0
Week 34 - August 19, 2018 to August 25, 2018
Week 52. Reflections of a GP1 Santa Claus.  All through the year, it seemed like 2018 would be a bad year.  But like a Hail Mary pass in a football game, 2018 ended with Wonder and Delight.  First, our Santa (me) is very grateful for the most important thing in the world, "Family."  Thankful for our family sharing Christmas Eve.  Thankful Uncle Joe joins us.  Thankful my son David was promoted to a manager at Apple and for
making the trip from Sacrament with beautiful wife Paula and my youngest grandchild Noah.  Noah is so precious and fun.  Thankful our brother John and son Anthony sharing our long tradition of Christmas together though many other family members are not here due to distance.  Always in our thoughts.  Thankful Richelle, Wes, and Roxy was able to bring Yuriko and Iris this year.  Iris is becoming a wonderful little girl,
and yes, family, she is a distant cousin.  Thankful and proud of all my grandchildren.  Ronan, Isobel, Roxy, and Noah, they give me such blessings.  Thankful I was able to vacation with cousins Richard and Angie and my sister and Ken on Maui this year.  And hey Robert, cousin and fellow USC fan.  And I am thankful Bayview Officiants had the best year ever.  But most of all this year, I am thankful to tears, my daughter
Jennifer was able to announce with the giving of special Christmas ornaments that she and daughter Isobel made that Jennifer's latest scan results showed no cancer cells.  The monster has for now, been defeated.  Jen Won!

So 2018 ended up being a year of struggles and yet, new beginnings, new life, and new hope.  Hoping that 2019 will bring more blessings we all can continue to share.  I, for one, will never forget 2018.  I love my family and I am blessed to have them all.

Special thank you to Richelle, Jennifer, and Paula for photo contributions.
Week 35 - August 26, 2018 to September 1, 2018
Week 35.  As you may know, there is a lot of pink on my site this year representing my daughter's fight against cancer.  She is not alone in her fight,
and sadly, the reality of how bad cancer can be, there are still victims close to you that are unable to overcome this monster.  This week, my grand
daughter Isobel lost her dance instructor to cancer.  It is hard felt and a vivid reminder how precious life is to us all.  RIP Carol.  Your life lives on it
the hearts many lives you have touched.  And so life goes on and we must appreciate the "now."  This week, I was photographed with my "last toy"
near the John Denver memorial.  Noah is in his new vehicle moving on from his 1st birthday.  Roxy, enjoys Daniel and is now singing her version of
the music on the program.   Jeanne and I decided to go to the Aromas Day festivities,  The biggest little festival I hve been to in a long time.  Then on
Wednesday, Jeanne and I had a date.  We went to the movies to see South Pacific on the big screen in celebration of the 60 anniversary of the
movie.  Though I have seen it many times and own the DVD, it was special to see it on the big screen (only five people in the theater!). Finally, on
Friday I am trying to do pork belly burnt ends.  I did a prochetta the easy way last week and it was okay, however, I wanted to do burnt ends as a
precursor to Brother In Law John and I attempting to do a big prochetta for Sunday, with us luck.  And cherry on the top.  Ronan and Isobel win a
Summer Reading Award at the first school assembly.  Congrats to both.  Nice job!
Week 36 - September 2, 2018 to September 8, 2018
Week 36.  Happy Birthday to my brother-in-law John!  He decided to celebrate his special day by cooking a prochetta (Italian pork belly roast).  Neighbors Erik and Birget
brought the martinis and snacks.  Jeanne and I brought artiichoke bread  and a birthday cake.  John's son Anthony helped prepare the food.  Birthdays are a wonderful
opportunity to have a family get together.  And it is great that the main food attraction came out delicious.  Thank you John and Happy Birthday.  62 years old and counting.
On the holiday, I grilled some skirt steak.  That is always good too.  And finally, I was Monterey on Tuesday afternoon to do a wedding at the Monterey Plaza.  So many
memories there.  Richelle and Wes were married there.  Jeanne and I renewed our vows on our 40the anniversary.  Always a pleasure to visit that area.  I preformed my
990th wedding on that day at the Plaza.
Week 37 - September 9, 2018 to September 15, 2018
Week 37.  David and I traveled to Southern California to attend our second Slap Your Daddy BBQ Class.  Harry Soo Is a champion pitmaster and a great instructor.  Dave and i are always interested in
improving our BBQ skills.  At the end of the day, we are given signed certificates of completion of the Backyard Pitmaster Class.  David and I started out the weekend enjoying dinner with David's friend
Bill.  It's been a while since we have seen him.  Bill is a great friend to have.  Ronan received and award this week as well.  Seems like he is very good at math.  Congrats to Ronan, David and I for our
certificates this week.
Week 38.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEN.  And what a birthday it was.  On Grandparent's Day, Jen received her biggest birthday present ever (as she says).  Her very best friend Anne arrived for a long visit.  Tears of joy all around.  Been seven
years!  It was also the final day of radiation treatment for Jen and Anne was there.  Grandparents Day was really special as well.  Tons of smiles.  Ronan and Isobel shine at school.  To end the week, Jeanne and I took the Cobra out for a
run to Carmel for the Glass Pumpkin Show and Sale.
Treat each day as a birthday day and celebrate life. Posting this early since there is nothing that can beat the birthday celebration this week.  Enjoy.   LOVE YA JEN !!!!!
Week 38 - September 16, 2018 to September 22, 2018
Week 39 - September 23, 2018 to September 29, 2018
Week 39.  A week of milestones.   Anne and Jennifer share a toast.  Best of friends end a week of a wonderful visit.   They had not seen each other for seven
years.  For me, two big moments this week.  I preformed my 1000th wedding since ordination.  Special thanks to Salinas Valley State Prison.  I have 229 weddings
which accounts for 25% of my weddings to achieve 1000 weddings.  And oddly enough, the location of my 1000th wedding.  My next goal is to do 1000 weddings
as Bayview Officiants alone (minus my first three years that I worked for Lyssabeth's Weddings).  Lastly, I did my BBQ home work and submitted photographs to
Harry Soo (Pitmaster Champion / BBQ trainer).  He asked if he could use them on his social media.  For me, it was an honor. But I must say, my son David
deserves high marks for his amazing briskets.  More on that next week.
Week 40 - September 30, 2018 to October 6, 2018
Week 40.  Happy Birthday David.  40 Years Old.  I can remember that day in my life, but that was then,
this is now.  Wonderful family weekend, Dave made another wonderful brisket.  Only one surprise this
weekend, I saw a bobcat at the prison where I do weddings.  SVSP.  Wow, amazing cat.  A great week.
More to come, as life goes on.
Week 41 - October 7, 2018 to October 13, 2018
Week 41.  Family and friends at the Boekenoogen VIP BBQ at the Boekenoogen Bell Ranch Vineyards.  Front left to right.  Howard Swart, Jennifer Leggett
Swart, Monique, and her stepmother.  Back, right to left.  Jeanne Leggett, Richard Raggio, Angie Raggio, and hey, that's me.  Owner John Boekenoogen stops
by to greet us.  Great man.  Yes, we had Lobster and steak.  Fresh ahi, and all the wine we wanted.  During the week, my son did a face time to us to
announce he finally was promoted to manager at Apple.  Congrats to Dave and his family.  Big smiles all around.  Salute.
Week 42 - October 14, 2018 to October 20, 2018
Week 42.  "Here Today, Gone To Maui !"   Vacation time on the island of Maui with my sister and her bf Ken and cousins an hour away.  Had a list of "to do's" and we did it all plus more.  So many photos taken, it deserves a separate page.  But for this page, a few of the highlights.  Day 1, Rained all day, but that didn't stop
me from BBQ'ing Ahi, Marlin, Shrimp.  YUM.  Day 4, attended a Luau at Honua'ula Wailea.  Day 5.  Upcountry to the Kula Botanical Gardens, then on to the Maui Winery and Ulupalakua Ranch for lunch and wine tasting, grilled hamburgers and hot dogs for dinner.  Day 6.  Maui Plantation for Zip line for Jeanne, lunch, and
tour.  Day 7.  Makena, and Coast, Wailea to Tommy Bahama Restaurant for drinks and a wonderful Pineapple Creme Brulee, super yum.  That night, a sunset cruise to end the trip to Maui.  Day 8.  Flight home.  Jeanne and I toast to another wonderful trip to the island of Maui.  Can't wait to return. but next year, we plan on
seeing the fall colors of the north east.  New York to Maine, and more.  ALOHA
Week 43 - October 21, 2018 to October 27, 2018
Week 43. After a trip to Maui, a pineapple jack o lantern seems right.  While away, Ronan and Isobel won another school award!  GP1 is proud of you both.  Fall time means Apple Hill
Time.  We traveled to Sacramento and Apple for the annual Apple Hill Festival.  Fun and smiles all around.  Thank you Jen and Paula for the contributions this week.  And for the "last
year" photograph of Noah, Paula and I.  Wow, Noah has grown.
Week 44.  Happy Halloween !   Having fun this week.  A few leftover photographs from Apple Hill and Sacramento visit.  The sunset photo is not of Hawaii, it's
Sacramento!  All our grandchildren having a fun Halloween.
Week 44 - October 28, 2018 to November 3, 2018
Week 45 - November 4, 2018 to November 10, 2018
Week 45.  Jeanne and I took the Shelby Cobra to Carmel Valley to pick up my wine club pack.  A beautiful day for a convertible
ride in the Beast.  Boekenoogen is still my favorite wine club.  We had lunch at the Rustic Restaurant.  At the tasting room,
Christmas is already in bloom.  Back at the home front, BBQ is the word.  Ronan and I BBQ'd shrimp, scallops, sausage and both
Jalepeno poppers and stuffed baby bells.  YUM.  No leftovers!
Week 46 - November 11, 2018 to November 17, 2018
Week 46.  A young lady called me and booked my services to preform her
wedding.  Little did I know that she was the daughter of people I worked with at
Waste Management.  Amoung their guests were more friends from my WM (Waste
Management) days.  Thank you for the opportunity to see old friends.  Above,
parents, Chris and Kari, daughter (bride) Phelysha and groom Alfonso.  WM co
workers Mike and Elaina.  Other events.  Yes, I still BBQ at night.  Brewing my first
wine.  Thank you to my son Dave for giving me the kit.  One month to final wine
product.
Week 47.  Started the week by attending the Hahn Winery Distribution party with cousins Richard and Angie.  Ended the week with grandchildren visits.  This week, the first rain of the season
occurred.  The rain season started with an awesome sunrise.  A great way to announce the change of the season, FINALLY.  The rain is a welcomed sight.  Thanksgiving dinner was simple and nice.
Check out my plate vs Roxy's plate.  Big difference.  Thanksgiving wines were varied to say the least.  Mario is a sparkling lemoncello from Florence Italy, then the two reds were from California.
Jeremy is a favorite and so is the Dean Marin Blend.  Dean Martin?  Yes.  Antibes, Amazon's drop off in Salinas is my answer to Black Friday.  No lines, no waiting and very safe way to get
deliveries.  Holidays are here.
Week 47 - November 18, 2018 to November 24, 2018
Week 48 - November 25, 2018 to December 1, 2018
Week 48.  Two of our four grandchildren spent the weekend with us.  On Friday, a third visited for the day.  On Saturday, Isobel
and Ronan helped grandfather put Christmas lights on the house.  Happy that's done.  On Monday, I multitasked by working on
my wine making and cooking a smoked pork for pulled pork.  The pulled pork turned out great.  Only time will tell if the wine
turns out good.
Week 49. It's looking a lot more like Christmas time around our home.  Nativity Scene
up, my mini tree up, wine bottles decorated, our Christmas Tree is up and decorated.  I
have my "Ugly Christmas Sweater," do you?  And finally, Jeanne and I cleaned the
labels off 6 wine bottles preparing to my first home made wine.  Of course, we need
labels  Though Christmas is usually a time of great joy, this year, we reflect on the
difficulties of 2018 in hopes that 2019 will be a more joyful year.
Week 49 - December 2, 2018 to December 8, 2018
Week 50 - December 9, 2018 to December 15, 2018
Week 50.  29 days ago, I started making wine (gift from my son).  After going through the process, it was time to bottle the wine.  Final clarification, then bottle the wine.
And of course, a custom wine label.  Also this week, I preformed a wedding ceremony for the daughter of a past Safeway co-worker and special friend, Rose Ellen.
Seems like I have been meeting a lot of friends from that past during this year's wedding ceremonies.  One of the best benefits of doing weddings.  Doing weddings is
still fun and interesting, so I will continue on.
Week 51 - December 16, 2018 to December 22, 2018
Week 51.  Christmas is a time of traditions.  The annual school Christmas Program.  Steve, Jen, Jeanne, and I enjoy Isobel and Ronan's part in the program.  Each year, Jeanne and I like to get away for a quiet Christmas dinner,
usually it's in Carmel, but this year, we revisited Solvang (Christmas City, USA), for a very nice dinner at the Root 246.  This year, our room had a fireplace and two bottles of wine.  We enjoyed them all.  Christmas time is here!
