"Moments"
Week 27 July 3, 2016 to July 9, 2016
Farewell to 2015 !  Jeanne and I joined David and Paula and Paula's parents Paul and Josie for a New Year's Eve celebration.  Nice dinner and fireworks viewing at Old Sac Town.  Happy New Years everyone. Then on to Las Vegas with cousin Robert, soon joined by his brother Mike.  Facing 2015 photo below to see last year's
photo in book form (PDF file)  CES.  Besides seeing all the new raves in electronics, I was able to do another 360 Nikon photo, was able to attend many free parties and many free concerts.  Many new things to see and do including seeing Penn's of Penn and Teller house.  Trying a new Japanese restaurant.  Celebrities including
Buster Posey of the Giants.  Concerts included the newest rave BECK.  Oldies like the Jacksons,   So ends week 1.  Week 2 is already in the mix as well.  Including Jeanne joins me in Las Vegas for some fun. Also my first wedding of 2016 (special story).  2016 is already starting big!
Week 1 January 1, 2016 to January 9, 2016
Jeanne's turn to come to Las Vegas and enjoy.  After she arrived at the airport, I took her to dinner at Bootleggers, a fine Italian dinner.  Then up the strip to see the lights.  Monday night we went to see Penn and Teller.  Jeanne took some photos of me and both Penn and Teller.  On Tuesday, we rode the High Roller and went to
see last year's AGT winner magician, Mat Franco.  Wednesday,  I took Jeanne to a Japanese Fondue Restaurant for dinner.  Thursday, we went to the Indian Buffet at the Mint Restaurant.  The rest of the day was kicking back watching first run movies.  Jeanne ventured out for a walk to the M&M store.  Friday we came home.
Friday, I was called to duty to do a quick wedding at the Recorder's office, and finally on Saturday, I returned to SVSP to do my first prison wedding for 2016!
Week 2 January 10, 2016 to January 16, 2016
On Sunday January 24, 2016, my daughter Richelle was air lifted from Salinas Memorial Hospital to the UCSF Women's hospital with severe viral Pneumonia.  We could have lost her.  All of our family's attention was on her, so needless to say, I have not posted any items since that day.  But through good graces, Richelle is on
the road to recovery and I am able to resume my posting.  I will catch up to current as soon as I can and I hope for your understanding.  Week 3 (before Richelle became hospitalized).  Trying to get back into the swing of things from Las Vegas, Jeanne and I started our exercise routine again at what used to be Golds Gym, but is
now Creekbridge Fitness.   However, the highlight of this week was attending a concert with cousin Robert and his friend.  We went to Carmel to see The Smithereens featuring lead singer Pat Dinizo.  They have been together for over 30 years and it was an amazing concert.   Look them up, you might like what you hear.
Week 3 January 17, 2016 to January 23, 2016
Week 4  By Tuesday night, we thought we were out of the woods, however, we learned the hard way not to celebrate too early.  Richelle had a set-back.  The night after we ate and celebrated at the
Ramp.  But very happily, Richelle came rushing back to the road to recovery.  The photos help to tell the story.
Week 4 January 24, 2016 to January 30, 2016
On Sunday January 24, 2016, my daughter Richelle was air lifted from Salinas Memorial Hospital to the UCSF Women's hospital with severe viral Pneumonia.  We could have lost her.  All of our family's attention was on her, so needless to say,  Through good graces, Richelle is on the road to recovery.  I am now caught up with my posting and hope to continue to post weekly as before.  With
the new format, the weeks are Sundays through Saturdays, so new posting should be every Sunday. Week 6  Jennifer, and I celebrated Richelle's progress.  Salute Richelle !  On Sunday, we visited Richelle in her new digs, with a new view to the bay.  First order of business, shower and shampoo.  For me, it's COFFEE served to me in her
room.  With the large screen TV, I was able to watch the Superbowl and follow my numbers.   Our next visit was Thursday, WOW, what an improvement.  Dressed, taking regular walks (some assistance).   We talked about the song, "Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport."  The baby's heartbeat made me think of that song (look it up), and I was thinking about nick naming the new baby "Joey" from the
Aussie word meaning baby kangaroo.  Finally!  I was able to relax some and do something I love to do.................. BBQ !!!!

Week 5 January 31, 2016 to February 6, 2016
Week 5 continuing moments were all centered on Richelle and her improvements.  After last week's tough night, this week was full of work and family visits.  David and Paula visited as did Jennifer.  Jennifer spent
the whole day with Richelle.  As you can see by the photographs, Richelle continued to improve.  Look, she is texting!  Dave and I toasted her improvements.
Week 6 February 7, 2016 to February 13, 2016
Everyday, Richelle seems to be getting better.  Richelle, Jeanne, and I do a selfie to show the extreme progress (this photo was taken during our first visit of the week). The next photo shows how to find her in the big hospital, Just follow the yellow leaves. A nurse is giving some
physical therapy to Richelle as Jeanne observes.   The next photo of Richelle and I was taken during our most recent visit.  She wants to leave the hospital ASAP.  And she is looking well enough to plan her escape.  On the way home, Jeanne and I found a very nice place to eat and
they had live music.  I made a request and he knew the song.  And right before we left, I received an early birthday cake.
Week 7  February 14, 2016 to February 20, 2016
After visiting Richelle at the hospital for the day, we celebrated at dinner that this will be the last time we need to visit.  Richelle is coming home!  Jeanne posted a note on the hospital gratitude tree saying how much we appreciated all the hospital staff had done for our family  I received a last
minute call to do a wedding at the court house for Amir and Regina.  Their wedding is my 600th wedding since I began preforming wedding ceremonies.
John, Richelle, Jeanne and I enjoy calamari dinner at Madonna. And it rained.
Week 8 February 21, 2016 to February 27, 2016
February 22nd, "It's my birthday!"  Great week, wonderful birthday. It was also Margarita Day!  Thank you Jen for posting all those "oldie" photos, they are great !  Thank you Jeanne for the prime rib, YUMMY !  Thank you David for the Omaha steaks, future YUM !  Thank you
Richelle for getting better, coming home soon?  YEA!  Thank you Boekenoogen for the awesome 2011 Pinot  The photos tell the story.
Week 9 February 28, 2016 to March 5, 2016
With my daughter Richelle at home and doing better, things seem to be moving back to normal (whatever that is), this week was very peaceful.  It seems like the
beginning of a new Spring, and with Spring, comes new life.  So the it's fitting that we can celebrate a new life in our family.  Congrats to Kati and Matt and their new
family addition, Lucca.  Thanks to Matt for the photos as well.  Each morning as I get in my SUV to head to exercise, I see my new friend, a robin.  It's amazing how
close I can get to this bird.  That too, brings peace to this week.  So salute to Kati, Matt, and Lucca, to nature's wonders, and to peace and calmness in our hearts.
Week 10 March 6, 2016 to March 12, 2016
Happy Birthday Isobel, she turned 5 years old this week !  We celebrated at a dinner in Monterey.   How did we spend St. Patrick's Day?  Jeanne and I joined cousins Richard and Angie at the Domenico Winery in
San Carlos for an orphan wine tasting and corned beef and cabbage dinner.
Week 11 March 13, 2016 to March 19, 2016
Started off the week doing a wedding in Aromas, took a few moments to capture the local hillsides (see below)  Then a wine maker's dinner at IL Fornaio.  Talked with the wine maker Ridge "Rich" Watson, and a local famous artist Richard MacDonald.  Posed with the master
chef Gabriel (wonderful dinner). Ended the week with grandson Ronan on an "overnight" stay.  Give him a packing box and he is in heaven.  He even made some cookies with Auntie Shelly.  YUM, the cookies are good.  AND received my first SS check this week!
Week 12 March 20, 2016 to March 26, 2016
Highlight of the week.  Easter Sunday!  The Easter
blessing was having our family together for a
backyard get together.  One in the oven (Wes and
Richelle expecting), and only missing Dave's fiance,
Paula.  She was here via Facetime.  Happy Easter
Everyone.
Week 13 March 27, 2016 to April 2, 2016
Highlight of the week.  Our grand son Ronan receives First Holy Communion at San
Carlos Church in Monterey.
Week 14 April 3, 2016 to April 9, 2016
I doubt if any other event this week will top this, so I am posting this early.   We have a new addition to our family today!  Richelle gave birth to a baby girl at 11:50 PM Monday April 18th at the Community Hospital of the Monterey Penninsula.
Congrats to Richelle and Wes!  And US too!  And welcome home to our new sweet addition.
Soft Sax Jazz playing
Week 15 April 10, 2016 to April 16, 2016
Highlight of the week.  Saturday the 16th!  All is well.  Having a private BBQ in the backyard to celebrate where we are.  Taxes done and paid. Spring is in the air.  Doing some BBQ and having a glass of awesome wine.  Hearing
from my son, hearing from my sister and Ken.  Warm enough to BBQ in bare feet.  Next week is a biggie.  Baby due, doctor visits, weddings, trip to Sacramento.  And Game of Thrones is one week closer.  What a week.
ROXY ROSE ONALFO
Week 16 April 17, 2016 to April 23, 2016
HAPPY BIRTHDAY RICHELLE, and look at the sweet present she is holding!  Jen, Ronan, and Isobel came over to help celebrate Richelle's birthday.  Dave and I exchanging text photos on what we
were doing at the moment.  I was holding Roxie, Dave and Paula were researching music for their wedding.  Rusty, but not totally out of practice.  Meanwhile, National BBQ day was the 16th, so in
celebration, I BBQ'd some poppers.  And speaking of weddings, Congrats to Chad, he got married on May 21st.  We saw Chad at the gym.  Last minute workouts pre wedding day.   I had a follow-up
visit with the doctor to go over the results of my recent colonoscopy.  100% Okay!!!!  Another sweet event this last week, was seeing Isobel in her ballerina dance outfit.  She loves dancing.
A future star in the making?   For us, she is a star already.
Week 17 April 10, 2016 to April 30, 2016
Moments this week carrying over from last week, the winemaker's dinner at iL Fornaio.  Also celebrating Angie and Richard's wedding anniversary.  Happy Anniversary you two !!  Couple more moments
included the start of the new season of Game of Thrones.  I had a little green screen fun with the poster pics of the new season.
Week 18  May 1, 2016 to May 7, 2016
About the time my father in law was the age I am now, the doctors discovered he had colon cancer.  Sadly, he only lasted three more years. This has always weighed heavy on Jeanne and my mind.  I know it's a scary thing to think about, but I faced my fears and decided I better check.  Well, this week, I had a colonoscopy.
A major "moment" in my life. The doctor removed three polyps and gave me the word I had no signs of cancer.  So now, with a new personal doctor directing me and my health, I am relieved that I am in pretty good health.  I think this is so important, I decided to post my results to encourage everyone to have this procedure.
If I can do it, everyone should be able to.  Healthy heart, no cancer, I figure I can be around for another decade or two.   On a lighter side, I did a wedding at the Hahn Winery west of Soledad.  What a fantastic view of the valley and the Pennacles National Park.  I plan on a return trip to the tasting room very soon.
The moment of the week was Mother's Day Brunch at Kula Ranch in Marina.  For sure, our lives are filled with moments we should always
remember and cherish.  While I set up the pose, a kind person asked if she could help by taking our group photograph.
I think she was a mom and understood the importance of this moment.  Thanks to that mom who I can't call a stranger.  These moments
captured by camera will keep the memories alive through the generations.  Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers.
Week 19  May 8, 2016 to May 14, 2016
Week 20  May 15, 2016 to May 21, 2016
Week 22  May 29, 2016 to June 4, 2016
Special Moments Returns!   For the last 2 weeks, Jeanne, John, and I were in Italy on vacation.  What a trip!
Started with dinner at Rich and Angie's house then on to El Rancho Inn to stay over since our trip to Italy was scheduled to begin the next morning at 7:15 AM!
We were fortunate to be able to fly first class all the way.  Our flight from Chicago to Rome was on a newer 777.  Dave tracked our flight all the way.
Photos from home helped to fend off home sickness.   Pictured is our tour bus (for 13 dayts).  John and I are very excited to be there.
The evening welcoming included lots of food and wine.  I knew we were in for many surprises when I saw how some people park!
And the size of coffee was not going to cut it, lol!  "Seconds Please."

<<<<<<<<<  The second week is best captured by the professional photograph taken of the tour group in front the the Arch of Triumph next to the world famous Coliseum.  I am
working on a page with photos of the trip.  To see those, click on the group photo.

On June 5th, we left Rome Italy for home.  The flight home was long, but very nice.  The food on the plane was great.  I had
Salmon and Shrimp, and a glass of wine.  Though the wines in Italy are really very very good, it was nice to get home to my
favorite wines and naturally, I am very happy to get back to my BBQ!!!!!!
Week 24  June 12, 2016 to June 18, 2016
Week 24 Moments.  Best of all, moments with Roxy.  I like to call it, "hello grandpa....... yawn, going.......
going........going..........gone.  Sleeping in grandpa's arms."
Also completed two pages from our recent trip to Italy.  Third/final page coming soon.
Jet lag gone, but memories of Italy are still fresh, so I bought some Italian wine, with more coming.
Before the Italian wine was delivered, I received some Narrow Gate wine to try.  One of David's favorite wineries.
While in Italy, we heard Barolo wines were some of the best Italian wines, so I had to but some to try.
No Barolo wines at Bevmo, but K&L had over 100 varieties.  Wow....
Can't wait to try one on Father's Day.  Salute!
Week 23  June 5, 2016 to June 11, 2016
I hope your Father's Day was as nice as mine.  All the family at home, I couldn't ask for more.  My day was wonderful.  Lots of food and wine and love.
Next moment happened in Sacramento.   David and Paula and Family attended a special "Wedding" mass.  David and Paula were married by the Catholic Church.  A blessed day to be sure.
On Thursday, Jeanne and I joined cousins Richard and Angie at iL Fornaio for the June Wine Maker's Dinner.  Hahn was the featured winery and the dinner was awesome as usual.
Thank you Matt.  Hahn assistant winemaker, Megan McCollough,  presented us with some insights on the making of Hahn wines.
Week 25  June 19, 2016 to June 25, 2016
It's a special moment when you visit your doctor and he says you are in very good health.  But of course, I can loose a few pounds!  I was also able to begin my third page dedicated to our recent trip to Italy.
The first one was set up for all the fellow travelers on the tour.  So far, there are 8 contributors with over 140 photographs.  The next page was for just food. And the third I am still working on, the biggest, my
photos of Italy.  Then this week, a special treat.  Jeanne got her Venetian Vase and I received our instant heirloom set of hand made Venetian wine glass collection.  Don't ask how much.  To cap off the week,
we are in Tahoe for the annual family 4th of July get together.  Jeanne, Richelle, Roxy and I were the first to arrive.  We soon met up with cousins Richard and Angie for a margarita dinner.  Salute.  Dave and
Paula are arriving this morning, while Jen, Steve, Ronan, and Isobel arrive later today.  We will join us tomorrow night.  To everyone, have a safe and wonderful 4th of July celebration.  And remember it's really
not the 4th of July we celebrate, it's our "Independence Day" we celebrate.  Salute!
Week 26  June 26, 2016 to July 2, 2016
Highlight of the week, easy.
Spending the Independence
Day 4th of July holiday with
family.
Lake Tahoe, 2016 !
Thank you Jennifer, Angie, and
Richard for your contributions
this week.
Week 36 September 4, 2016 to September 10, 2016
Moment of the week.  Start off by getting back to what I consider my "normal," a glass of wine and bbq.  But the best moments of the week was Jeanne, Jennifer, and I went to the Darius Rucker concert.
I have always liked Darius since the Hootie and the Blowfish days.  But now he is on his own and mostly doing country.  Though I enjoyed his new songs,
I really enjoyed the the Hootie songs he did during the concert.  He had two opening performance acts.  Michael Ray, and Dan and Shay.  It was mostly a country rock night, which was very much okay by me.  Thank you Darius for a wonderful concert evening.
Week 28 July 10, 2016 to July 16, 2016
Thank you Richard and Angie for hosting Jeanne, Richelle, Roxy, and I for a wonderful day of BBQ, wine and conversation.
For Jeanne and I, it was the second of three BBQ days this week.  Finally back in a groove of BBQ so these combined are my Moments of the week.
Happy Birthday Ronan !   My daughter Jennifer had a wonderful idea and made it real.  To celebrate Ronan's birthday, she wanted both grandfathers with Ronan and her to see the San Francisco Giants play baseball.  Both Ronan and Howard's first game!
What a fantastic day.  Weather was perfect, the train rides were an adventure in itself, and the game was fun to watch.  Though the Giants lost to Cincinnati, our family won!  Game, train rides, birthday dinner.  The making for a birthday to remember.
Week 29 July 17, 2016 to July 23, 2016
Week 30 July 24, 2016 to July 30, 2016
LOUIE XIII and the Guys!  "It's not about drinking, it's a historical moment between people as special as the

Taber Ranch
Week 32 August 6, 2016 to August 13, 2016
Another jam packed week full of "Moments."  David and Paula on honeymoon in Hawaii.  Amazing photos.  Isobel graduates from pre school with recognitions.  We celebrate at Black Bear Diner.  Annual Boekenoogen
BBQ at their Santa Lucia Vineyards.  Jeanne, John, Richard, Angie, Jennifer and friends, and I enjoy the BBQ.  Then on to Hahn for some wine tasting.  I brought home plenty of wine from both wineries.  Thank you
John Boekenoogen for the event (pictured).  Angie, Rich, and I were properly photo-bombed by the wine pourer at Hahn.  John was in the mood for some photographs.  Why not?  :)   Summer is passing by too quickly.
Week 33 August 14, 2016 to August 20, 2016
A week of many "Moments!"   The Chimney Fire near John's house at Lake Nacimento.  We are all hoping it will not reach John's place.  David and Paula made it back home safe and sound from a dream honeymoon.  After many attempts, I was able to secure a house to rent for next year's
"Lake Tahoe Our Family Vacation."  A different place, but much more room.  I guess my sister had a moment this week, she found her "Happy Place."  lol...  Fun times.  Even Roxy had to tak a second look from grandpa's arms.  My son-in-law, Steve, and I volunteered at again at this years
Concors Italiano.  Helping to get those volunteer hours for Ronan.   Thursday night was another wine maker dinner.  Cousin Rich and I join Matt (manager of IL Fornaio Carmel) for some wine and conversation.  Rich, Angie, Jeanne, and I are joined by the Wine professional Kari Moore for the
featured wine.  The food and wine were great.  That's why we enjoy those wine maker dinners.   And finally, I worked on my Bayview Officiants website.  I will be making big changes for 2017!  Pictured is the new main page.  I expect more changes and fewer weddings.  Stay tuned.  Now, where is
that glass of wine?  Salute.
Week 34 August 21, 2016 to August 27, 2016
Salute to the "Moments" of the week.
First, my son Dave and I frequently text each other on the weekends sharing what beverage we are enjoying and what is on our BBQ grills.  This week, we both were doing some grilled chicken.
We both are winner there.  But hey, those are olives in your glass son, not grapes?  Love these moments.  Second moment.  I preformed a wedding ceremony and I found out the groom was related
to my all time favorite Hawaiian singer, Israel Kamakawiwoʻole.  I mentioned that fact to the groom and told him about meeting Bruddah Iz at his last concert.  Iz signed my CD cover and it is now a special
item to me.  I sent the groom a copy and he told me he saved it on his phone, it's special to him now too.  Aloha to my new friends Don and Ida.  And now a word (look) from our newest grand child.
"Really?"   She has concentration!  Hi Roxy.
Week 35 August 28, 2016 to September 2, 2016
Sometimes, special moments can be as simple as looking at a cardboard box and reading a special message (From Isobel, our granddaughter).  Ronan and Isobel came for a visit and it was
a fun day.  I continue to wear my USC colors at the gym, even thought we lost big to Bama.
Jeanne and I went to the Italian Festival in Monterey.  It just brought back memories of our recent trip to Italy where it was "real."   Another big moment this week was the publishing of the first
two books about our trip to Italy.  Click on the two icons to see them.  Finally, had some wonderful moments at the Capitola Art and Wine Festival with cousins Angie and Rich.
Even made some "self art" and found an awesome Pinot.  Had to buy some. Thank you Angie for photo contributions.
Week 52 December 24, 2016 to December 31, 2016
Happy Birthday to my daughter Jennifer.  We celebrated by having a family BBQ with prime rib!  Son David
came from Sacramento to help celebrate.  Sister Richelle joined in the fun.  So all together, Jeanne, Jennifer
and Steve, David, Richelle and Wes, and grandchildren Ronan, Isobel, and Roxy.  Moments for sure.

Week 37 September 11, 2016 to September 17 , 2016
Finally, a quiet week.  So, the moments are subtle.  Making some killer BBQ Pepper Poppers.  My form of relaxation.  Then do the gym thing
almost everyday.  Found out a couple of regulars attended the same high school as I attended.  Go Trojans!  I graduated in 1968, the guy on
the far left, graduated in 1970.  The guy next to me went to Alisal High School about 11 years after I graduated.  I spent a few moments
thinking about where I might want to go next year.  Saw this photo and it triggered my inner beer self.  Hmmm, Ocktober Fest in da homeland.
Thinking.  Then spent moment looking at recent photos of my grand children.  Thank you Jen for sending the photos of Isobel and Ronan.
The Roxy toes photo was taken by me.  Let's see, "Roxy toe cuteness,"  "sign Isobel up for America's Got Talent NOW," and think Scholar
Ronan, a fantastic school report recently.  Couldn't ask for better Grand Children!  Love them all.
Week 38 September 18, 2016 to September 24 , 2016
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVE!
Dave, Paula, Jeanne, and I enjoying a wine tasting day for Dave's birthday.
September 30, 2016  We started at CBC, then headed to Narrow Gate (photo above).  Then on to a few
unknowns, Auriga and a very special find, SalutI.    What a day!
Above, a team photo of Upper Iowa University Football Team.  Why, you ask?  Well, we have a cousin that
plays on that team.  His name is Wayne.  Good luck Wayne.  Enjoy this season.  Another special moment
this week.  Preformed a wedding ceremony for an Ethiopian couple, and they treated me to some Ethiopian
food and coffee.  Thank you Shiferaw, his wife Mehari and children for the special treat.  The coffee was so
good.
Week 39 September 25, 2016 to October 1, 2016
Every year, I look forward to these moments.  The annual Boekenoogen BBQ for 18er's (club members that purchase 18 bottles of wine a year).
This year, joining Jeanne and I were cousins Rich and Angie, my daughter Jennifer and her friends.  The owner John Boekenoogen and I do a selfie.  John is so generous with his club members.  He states, "I take care of my club members."  And he
does.  This BBQ was free.  A free glass to share all the wine you want and for the bbq, New York Steak and Lobster.  Is there any other club that treats the members so well?  The day was perfect.  Plenty of wine, plenty of food, plenty of good music,
and plenty of friends and family.  I also took a few photographs of the vineyard, Bell Ranch.  Takes a while to get there, but so worth it.
Week 40 October 2, 2016 to October 8, 2016
This week's moments.  Joining cousins Angie and Rich at the San Carlos Wine and Art Show.  We boycotted the wine and opted for margarita's  instead.  They were great!  The weather was awesome and the lunch was very good.
While passing an alley, I saw a sax player practicing, interesting shot.  Then the giant cat, ME Owe.  While checking out the wares, I heard a live performance by a young man playing a guitar.
I thought he was local and wanted to support his music by purchasing his CD's.  Found out he was from Spain.   Silly me. His name is John H. Clark.  Check him out on YouTube.
Headed back to to Angie and Richard's house for some GOOD wine and conversation.    Rich BBQ'd some chicken and it was great.  Good BBQ Rich.   And the decorations put us in the Halloween mood.
Week 41 October 9, 2016 to October 15, 2016
Aloha, and welcome home to Jennifer, Ronan, and Isabel from the Island of Maui.  I know it's difficult to leave Maui, but to ease back into mainland life, Jen and our grand children Ronan and Isobel joined us
at the "Islands Burgers and Drinks."  Jen and I had a mai tai to.  We all love Maui and can't wait to return.  The was a special moment this week.  Also, Dave and Paula received their wedding video and talk
about heart warming.  So wonderful to relive those moments at their wedding.
Week 42 October 16, 2016 to October 22, 2016
Moments of the week.  What do crazy people do the first big rain of the season?  We go to the gym and work out.  Yes, the streets were wet.
But we had a little sunshine in our house today.  Our grand daughter Roxy was over for a visit.  She is so full of smiles.  No clouds while she was smiling.  This week, Jeanne and I finished a little
DIY project at the apartments.  For $40, we built a bench for the new cement work at the apartments.  The goal was to prevent anyone from parking on the new cement and just have a place for
people to sit and enjoy the weather.
Week 43 October 16, 2016 to October 29, 2016
Last week, there was not a lot of special moments.  This week was filled with special moments.   Had too, it was Halloween week.  So much, I had to leave some stuff off this week's posting.   First stop, me having fun with JibJab.  Sent out cards and messages with fun stuff.  Like above, my costume.  Then in Salinas, Roxy and Richelle, dressed up for the occasion.
On to Sacramento, Paula and Dave still in heaven over their honeymoon in Hawaii.  Dexter even was dressed in a turtle costume.  Then on to Monterey.  Lot's happening there. Isobel became a magical little fairy, Ronan turned into a wolfman.  Jen also joined in the fun at work.  Seems like just about everyone had some fun. But OH, the treat for Jeanne and I was on Thursday
night.  We went to a wine maker's dinner at Hollin House in Santa Cruz.  The wine highlighted was Bargettof.  We are club members.  At first look, we were not sure if we would enjoy it.  OMG, we were in for a special treat.  The Hollins House overlooks Monterey Bay, what a view.  We enjoyed wine and hor d'oeuvres served to us.  The dining room was so wonderful and
upscale.  We had our own private table with linen and the works.  The flight of wines were already poured.  And during each course, both the wines and food paring were discussed by the winemaker and the chef!  The high ceiling in the dinning room made the atmosphere quiet and enjoyable.  The food was amazing.   And the presentation was spot on great.  See the menu
and food photographs.  The Hollins House has a long history and is part of the Pasatiempo Golf Course.  Just off Highway 17 in Santa Cruz.  We are on the mailing list to attend another winemaker's dinner in the future.  So enjoyable, it was more like a date night.  We were impressed.  Thank you Hollins House and thank you Olivia, the Bargetto winemaker.  Thanks to
Jeanne, Jennifer, Dave, and Paula for contributing photographs.
Week 44 October 30, 2016 to November 5, 2016
Inspired by a facebook post by my daughter in law, Paula, I decided to dedicate this week's "Moments"  to that posting and by way of recognizing and thanking our dear veterans, I will post this week's photographs and next week's on the day before Thanksgiving.  I would like to share this story.  My wife and I were visiting the Pear Harbor USS Arizona Memorial during one of our
trips to Hawaii.  As I was entering the memorial, I saw this man in a wheel chair at the entrance reflecting.  I knew this is something special.  And as events unfolded,  The man in the wheel chair was guided to the inner memorial where all the names of the military that died that December 7th.  Then, he gathered his strength and pushed himself up from his wheel chair.  As he
struggled to stay standing, he saluted the wall of names.  That man was Albert Doak, VETERAN.  I was so fortunate to capture that moment, It still brings me to tears.  I met Albert and his grand daughter back at the visitors center and I told them who I was (aka Photo by Rich).  I asked if it was alright to put his photograph on my website.  He agreed to my posting,  Then as a token
of thanks, I sent him all the photos I took of him that day.  I learned from his grand daughter that every member of Albert's family has a copy of that photograph on a desk, a wall, a special place.  I THANK Albert for his service, I thank Albert for making us all remember those that serve this country.  Where would we be without them?  Our thanks to them should be on all our desks,
our walls, our special place, but mostly in our hearts.  To this day, I thank all veterans I meet for serving our country and I give them a discount if I do their wedding.  My small way of saying Thank You.
Thank you to:   My father, US Navy: my step father Charles Leggett, US Air Force:  my Sister Johnnie Ghesquiere,  US Marines: My father in law, Anthony Petri US Navy:
my brother in law John Petri, US Army; Jeanne and John's uncle, Joe Ratto, US Army; my great nephew, Ricky Boyster, US Marines, my niece's husband, Matt Brumage, US Air Force, my daughter in law's father, Paul Black, US Army - Awarded The Purple Heart; Richard Maxson, US Army, Tom Durham, US Army, John Martinez, US Marines and so many
other cousins and friends.
A note to Paul;  I am angered and sad at the disrespect you were given this day, take comfort in knowing, that your family and friends will always be in your debt for serving this country, and standing up for our freedoms and safety.  We thank you and Love you.  We lost Albert in 2009.  See side story RIP Albert Doak,  I will always remember what he
taught me.

Week 45 November 6, 2016 to November 12, 2016
Posting this week a little early due to a much needed rest.  After much time and plenty of $$'s, my Mustang is back and awesome.  Time to celebrate so off to Buffalo Wild Wings for a celebration burger and beer.
Also, happy to see the USC football team doing much better....... "Fight On !"    Adding to all this good stuff was visitations from all our grandchildren.  Even Ronan likes USC !
Week 46 November 13, 2016 to November 17, 2016
Moments Week 47.  Jeanne and I enjoyed a five day cruise to Cabo San Lucas on the Crown Princess.  It was our 4th cruise on the Crown Princess.  Like visiting an old friend once again on a different sea.  We traveled the Mediterranean, the Atlantic, the Caribbean, and the Pacific on the Crown.  We followed a few traditions on the Crown.
We always share a sail away drink, and then take a photograph in front of the globes.  And of course, the safety drill with life jackets.  From our balcony, we viewed a great sunrise with another Princess cruise ship near us.  Once in Cabo, we did a complete couple's spa treatment with facial.  Me, a facial?  Jeanne played Bingo and I took two
photography classes.  I learned a lot from the instructor, she was awesome.  A real "hands on" type of teacher.  Her last name was the same as Steve and Jennifer, Swart.  Go figure.   Cabo has grown so much, we hardly recognized it.  Might warrant another visit some day.  I broke up the week a little so next week will be from Thanksgiving
day to December 3, 2016 to highlight that day since I highlighted the cruise this week
Week 47 November 17, 2016 to November 23, 2016
Every Thanksgiving, our family is apart from each other visiting more family.  That's a good thing, but is sad we can't be all together.  So the thought "Though miles apart, we are close at heart" certainly applies.  A fun project, take a family photo no matter where you are and combine them so we are all together.
I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving.  Next stop, Christmas.  Christmas decorating begins.  Roxy checks out our new tree.  That Saturday, we traveled to Sacramento to visit Dave and Paula.  We we out for dinner and one can see decorations are everywhere.  Back home, I had a chance to have lunch with
our cousins in Monterey.  Happy Birthday Frank.  Even the statues on Cannery Row were dressed for Santa.
Week 48 November 24, 2016 to December 3, 2016
Feeling more like the Christmas Season each day.  This weeks moment was a visit to Hahn Vineyards near
Soledad.  We visited the wine tasting area to make wreaths from grape vines.  A first for both Jeanne and I.
Mine turned out a little funky.  But hey, it was my first wreath.  All the decorations are up, presents are
wrapped, so Jeanne and I will continue traditions we started when her mother was still with us.  In the
meantime, the first present came along.  USC is going to the Rose Bowl, and some team members are
getting awards for this year's performances.  Fight On USC!
One of the very few things I like about facebook is the year end video of random photographs.  Since I don't
post, only Jeanne received one.  I was able to capture it and post it here on my site.  Enjoy.
Week 49 December 4, 2016 to December 10, 2016
This week's "Moments."   Enjoying "Today's" moments while taking some moments to reflect and remember "Yesterday's" moments.
Isobel and Ronan try on new Christmas Eve outfits I bought them to help Santa on Christmas Eve.
Ronan sings at the annual Christmas program at San Carlos Parish.
On Sunday, Jeanne and I traveled to Colma to visit past relatives and friends. Especially Jeanne's grandmother Sue.  We have been visiting her grave every year
since Jeanne's dad passed away.  It is now part of our tradition at Christmas.
Week 50 December 11, 2016 to December 17, 2016
Time marches on.  Difficult to believe that we attended the last Christmas show at the pre-k/k day care
school at Ryan Ranch Children's Center.  Thank you Donna and Staff for the great work you do and the very
nice Christmas Shows with the children.
To Everyone, HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS  !!!!
Week 51 December 18, 2016 to December 24, 2016
The final week of 2016 was filled with so many "moments" it's difficult to only share a few.  The biggest news was brought to us by David and Paula.
We are going to be fourth time grandparents!  Congrats to all of us!  Many times important sharing has happened on Christmas Eve.  Engagements,
promotions, and baby news.   Historically, it always a truly special family gathering for us over the last 45 years.   December 24, 1971, I asked Jeanne's
father for her hand in marriage, since then, many many important announcements have been made.  It's a major family tradition now.
As always, I take a group photograph of everyone sharing our Christmas Eve.
I happy to share a few of our moments this 2016 Christmas Eve.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Years!
RIP Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher
4/1/1932  - 12/28/2016       10/21/1956  -  12/27/2016
I was fortunate to meet Ms Reynolds TWICE in my lifetime.  She was a
wonderful person and really loved her fans.  The second time I met her,
she gave me a kiss (after her show at the Debbie Reynold's Casino in
Las Vegas).   She will be missed.  As well, her daughter Carrie.
