2020 Facing Future "Vintage Year 70 In Clear View"
|
Weeks 49-52 October 26, 2020 to December 24, 2020
|
2020 Week 3: Simple week for me. Pick up wine at Boekenoogen. Back to regular exercise. At least the
view has been spectacular. Thankfully, our grandchildren finds ways to bring smiles to our faces. A few
snapshots from Paula and Dave of Noah and Abby. Roxy has Pajama day at school and then a visit to the
local fire station. Isobel and Steve enjoy a Father-Daughter night.
2020 Week 1: Keeping traditions alive and forming new ones. A tradition Jeanne and I have enjoyed over that last few years has been traveling to Sacramento and joining Paula's parents for a New Year's Eve get together.
This year, Abby had her first Christmas and Noah learned the real magic of Christmas (How imagined Santa is real from Grandpa's point of view). Robert and I continue our tradition of going to the Consumer Electronic Show
in Las Vegas. While there, we checked out the new home of the Las Vegas Raiders, and followed that up with a visit to Shelby.
Week 1 - January 1, 2020 to January 7, 2020
|
Week 2 - January 8, 2020 to January 14, 2020
|
2020 Week 2: Cousin Robert and I made our annual trip to Las Vegas and the CES. While there, we met up with entertainer Ryan. At the CES, all kinds of interesting things. Including photography, fake port, camera's in refrigerators, the new 762 HP 500GT
Mustang Cobra, and many more things. It also appears Las Vegas is already a big fan of the Raiders.
Week 3 - January 16, 2020 to January 21, 2020
|
2020 Week 6. Every once in a while, we catch up on what the grandchildren are doing and print photos from that time period.
This time Ronan is highlighted playing basketball. Great form Ronan. Then a few past photos of Noah and Abby. She is so
cute. Roxy, very active at school. Finally, Sunday we attended Isobel's dance showcase at Pacific Grove High School.
Week 4 - January 22, 2020 to January 28, 2020
|
2020 Week 4. Even in January, the weather is nice enough to
start BBQ season. It is also a time for boy's basketball.
Thank's to my daughter Jen, we have some photographs of
grandson Ronan in his first two basketball games of the
season. I am so happy so see Ronan doing something he
enjoys and he is good at it. Amazing that Ronan has very
good form in shooting the ball, and he is not afraid to play the
game. Good job Ronan, remember to enjoy it and just let the
points come as they may.
Week 5 - January 29, 2020 to February 4, 2020
|
2020 Week 5. Slow down time! It's already February. Jeanne and I traveled to Colma to visit Jeanne's grandmother's grave.
We then stopped by at cousin Angie and Richard's house to watch the superbowl. Our favorite team lost. Oh well. The day
after the superbowl, the gym was empty. Just me and a couple of hard core workout folks. I also did a wedding at one of my
favorite venues, Pasadera. The couple are awesome and they did their personal vows in Chinese (posted).
Week 6 - February 5, 2020 to February 11, 2020
|
2020 Weeks 22-27. One of the casualties of the Covid virus is the lack of interest and energy to do a weekly post. Especially since most of 2020 has been filled with not so happy events. In December
2019, our whole family was looking forward to a "better year." Little did we know this year would be the year of "can't wait until 2021" Yet in the weeds of problems this year, a few flowers do grow. This
week's photographs are from the last 6 weeks or so. I hope some interest and energy returns for the second half of the year. Peace and love to all
Week 7 - February 12, 2020 to February 18, 2020
|
2020 Week 7. Thanks to cousin Robert, I was able to scan some photos from Uncle Joe's photo album. To
my surprise, I found this photo of Jeanne's grandmother Rose Ratto and I. The only known photo of just
the two of us. Also this week, Ronin and I do some night time BBQ. Just hot dogs, but what the heck. I
think Roxy likes photography. I had to model, so did she. lol And lastly, OMG, is that next week?
Week 8 - February 19, 2020 to February 26, 2020
|
2020 Week 8. This week I turned 70 years old. And my lovely wife surprised me with a birthday party.
2020 Week 9. Highlight of the week was a solo visit with Ronan. He is a wonderful
grandson. A continued "Thank You" to cousin Robert. He gave me the
opportunity to scan photos from his dad's photo album. Uncle Joe continues to
give us love though departed. A couple of treasures Jen will love. A photograph
of Uncle Joe, Jeanne's grandparents, and Jeanne. That is Nana behind the young
Jeanne. The next photo is Jeanne with her grandmother on her father's side.
Sue. Photo taken in front of Sue's home in San Francisco. The next two photos are
to note that I wrote the prison saying I wont be renewing my security pass, so my
final weddings for them will be in June. Lastly, security cameras do work. The
guy on the bike just took tools from neighbor's driveway. Fortunately, our other
neighbor stopped him. Jeanne alerted neighborhoods via facebook and the
response has been strong.
Week 9 - February 26, 2020 to March 3, 2020
|
Week 10 - March 4, 2020 to March 18, 2020
|
2020 Week 10. Two more photos from Uncle's Joe's photo albums. Can you believe it, Jeanne,
then Jeanne and John ! The granddaughter's had a busy week. Isobel danced in a competition in
San Jose. Roxy had both a bike marathon and a "hat" day. And Abby shares some wonderful
moments with her brother Noah. Thank you to all the contributors this week. Robert, Jen,
Richelle, and Pa.
Week 11 - March 12, 2020 to March 18, 2020
|
2020 Week 11. Happy Birthday Isobel. We celebrated her birthday this week. Though
her birthday was last week. We were suppose to go on a whale watching cruise, but
due to weather and then the virus thing, it is postponed to a later date. Key this week
was the stay in place order from the governor. Only essential travel is allowed. The
coronavirus is having a major impact on everyone on Earth. The store shelves were
emptied from people hoarding. Lines were long at the store. I was able to snag two tri
tips only because I was early and knew the butcher. TP is the most cherished item,
aka toilet paper. Like gold. Finally, a look back. Jeanne with mom, and Jeanne with
dad. Stay safe.
Week 12 - March 19, 2020 to March 25, 2020
|
2020 Week 12. Ronan and Isobel spent the weekend at our home.
One of Isobel's favorite activities is to do a tie dye shirt. Here is her
results. Meanwhile, in Sacramento, during this time of virus stay
home time. Noah and Abby discover one of their father's favorite
childhood programs. Ninja Turtles? With all the virus stuff going
around, it's easy to forget what season it is. Easter, time of first
communion, confirmation, and baptism. Above is Uncle John
celebrating one of these events. And finally, Jennifer's Baptism
day. Look for things to smile about, it's the medicine that will help
us through this difficult year.
Week 13 - March 26, 2020 to April 1, 2020
|
2020 Week 13. Yes, we live in virus times. But we still have a lot to smile about.
Above, Abby seems to be telling us, all will be well. Meanwhile, spending time
playing video games, watching TV, computer time, and not going out as often. I
rather be in Maui now, hoping our upcoming trip there will not be cancelled.
Meanwhile, we have facetime (thank you Paula), and IM's from family members
including a hug Gif from Richelle. Keep safe everyone. Take care of yourself.
Weeks 14 & 15 - April 2, 2020 to April 15, 2020
|
2020 Weeks 14 - 15. As the "Stay in place" orders continue, there is not much to do but wait until it's over. Easter was simple. We did get very cute "Prints"
from Noah and Abby. Also received another facetime call from Sacramento. Abby is growing fast. Ahhh. Due to the virus thing, we had to pretty much stay
apart for Easter. However, our family haa a saying, "Though miles apart, we are close at heart." And so we are. Here are photos taken by our family showing
everyone how we can still celebrate Easter together. I hope everyone had a safe and happy Easter.
Weeks 16 - 17 April 16, 2020 to April 29, 2020
|
2020 Weeks 16 and 17. I am doubling up weeks during the virus epidemic. Cannot get a lot of photographs sheltering in place. Week 16, we celebrated
Roxy's Birthday Wow, 4 years old. All our grand children are growing up so fast. Cuteness all around. My cousin Jane sent me a photo of what it is like
in South Central Iowa. Brrrrrr. No thanks. Jeanne and I joined Dave, Paula, Noah and Abby for a "Face time" during week 17. I have start "Spring
BBQ'ing." Of course, a glass of wine is an important element of my BBQ. Cuz Angie sent me a photo of OUR type of mask during this virus crap. She is
right on. We can't wine if we have wine. ???? Huh? Lastly, I photo I sent Ronan during our text messaging. Can't wait to get together again. Hey
everyone, "Stay Safe." Love ya. Yes, a lot of sad news this week as well. but I want to stay focused on the positive for the moment. Staying locked in is
stressful enough.
Weeks 18 - 21 April 30, 2020 to May 18, 2020
|
2020 Weeks 18-21. During these Virus times when we are all trying to stay safe, we turn to doing things a little different. Masks, yes. Doing
school "online" Staying home for photo time. Dreaming of going to Maui time. Painting time, the closest we can get to Maui right now (thank
you Frank R, nice painting). However, Uncle John and nephew Anthony escaped for a little fishing trip. They got lucky. Nice catches guys.
Until this virus crap is over, please stay stay and healthy. Thank you to all the family photograph contributors. Thank goodness for the digital
age, at least we can share.

2020 Weeks 39-45. The Covid virus has had its affects this year. In many ways, 2020 has been a horrible year. However, If we focus on the bad, it will continue, so let's focus on the good. These photos were captured during the last
10-12 weeks and represents what is GOOD. Birthdays (Ronan, Noah, Abby, Dave to name a few), watching a new loving home being built, a ride in a Cobra, gathering pumpkins, making cookies, visiting a zoo, running through leaves,
first class photo (Roxy), dining out with smiles, grandparents day, and more. Getting back to normal things as best we can. Above, Jeanne and I went to Jardines in San Juan Bautista for lunch wearing masks and social distancing
(mask hanging on my ear while I have lunch). Getting out for lunch was very nice. The word Jardine means Garden. Take time to reflect on the good things in your garden. These photographs are a lot of ours. Be safe, be blessed.
Weeks 22 - 27 May 19, 2020 to July 1, 2020
|
Weeks 28 - 30 July 2, 2020 to July 19, 2020
|
2020 Weeks 28-30. Seems like the theme of the year, 2020 has been a very rough year. In spite of all the roughness, there are sparkles of lightness and
joy. Enjoying the 4th with half the family. Remembering the 4th's we were all together. Nice is BBQ'ing with Ronan, watching fireworks with Ronan,
Isobel, Roxy, Jeanne, and Shelly while Wes conducts the show. Other highlights during this past three weeks Jeanne learns a new skill cutting my hair,
my BP is under control, David and Paula's dream is coming true, and Jeanne and I get to visit cousins Richard and Angie. We had lunch delivered since
you can't go out to dine during the virus days. 2020 continues to be rough on everyone. We lost cousin Mike Chiesa this last week. He will be missed.

2020 Weeks 31-35. Since my last posting, a few special things have happened. 1st. Ronan celebrated his 12th birthday. Cakes, presents,
friends, and fun times. Isobel was featured on the Ch 46 News. She volunteers at a food distribution charity. Way to go Isobel. Grandpa,
on occasion, watches Roxy while Jeanne is out. Roxy and I even shop together observing the 6 foot rule. David and Paul are starting the
next chapter in their life. They are building a dream home in Roseville. Congrats. Finally a mixed bag. A quick shot of the live cam
where we were suppose to be recently, Maui. While shopping I saw an old friend, Bargetto Zin. Had to get it. I was surprised when I
received an email from one of my credit card companies. Wow 850 Top Score. And finally, during these times, you have to plan ahead. I
believe home protection will be more important. I purchase two Glocks. One is a air soft replica to train with, the other one is the real
deal. Plans are training, practice, training, practice, then qualify for a Concelled Carry Permit. I am the last in our family to own
protection. I have a shot gun and now a Glock 17, all legal. We found out that Jocy had the Covid virus. She is recovering now, thank
goodness, but it shows you it's real and we are living in difficult times. Stay Safe.
Weeks 31 - 35 July 20, 2020 to August 12, 2020
|
Weeks 36 - 38 August 13, 2020 to August 24, 2020
|
2020 Weeks 36-38. During these last two weeks, our youngest grandson celebrated his 3rd birthday. It was a very special day. Lots of presents, cake, and a big red car! We were able to take a few
special photos as well. Dave and Paula took us on a visit to their new home under construction. We were welcomed into their new home for the first time. Wow. How exciting for David and Paula.
Back at home, I was babysitting Roxy and took a few moments taking some candids. My best friend Herb visited us this week. While here, he got a hair cut. Something he can't get in Fremont due to
the virus limitations.
And finally, Thanks to the Virus, posted are Jeanne and my vacation photos. Grrrrr. Never the less, stay safe and healthy everyone.
2020 Weeks 46-52.
I am at a loss for words. With deepest sorrow, Jennifer lost her fight with cancer today We all love her so much.
Rest In Peace my dear daughter.
